We have had a lot of questions on how much or how often to grease the idler wheels on the Model 2000XL. These wheels are fitted with a seal on the inside, a hub cap on the outside, and a Zerk fitting. If you pump grease into the wheel without removing the hub cap, it is possible you will push out the seal or hub cap. We recommend not pumping grease into the wheels until summer service, when they are taken apart. The Zerk fitting is left in the wheel so if the wheel loses its grease, you have a way to re-grease the assembly. We are currently using Schaeffer’s 229 #2 grease.
