At first glance, an air intake pre-cleaner may seem unnecessary on an over-snow vehicle. While pre-cleaners are commonly associated with dusty or dirty operating environments, they play an equally important role in extreme winter conditions. In cold conditions, snow particles become exceptionally fine and lightweight, creating what is often referred to as “snow dust.” These particles can be drawn into the engine’s air intake system and accumulate on the air filter. When snow dust contacts the air filter, it can freeze and damage the filter media, restricting airflow and reducing engine performance. An air intake pre-cleaner helps prevent this by separating and displacing snow particles before they reach the air filter—much like it does with dust and dirt in other applications.
If your Tucker Sno-Cat® vehicle is not currently equipped with a pre-cleaner, this upgrade can be added to many older models. Summer is the ideal time to prepare for the upcoming winter season. Contact our Parts Department to learn more about this simple and effective upgrade.
