Ice scrapers are essential for preventing snow and ice buildup on top of your Tucker Terra axle. Without them, buildup can cause the track to stretch, leading to internal structural damage and premature track failure. It can also cause the sprocket to skip or jump the drive lugs, reducing performance and increasing wear. Ice scrapers must always be installed and in good condition. Regularly inspect them to ensure you have the correct number and that they are functioning properly:
Tools & Materials:
Sander, sanding pad (36 Grit) adhesive (Loctite 406), primer(Loctite SF770), disposable brushes, clamps, gloves, face shield, safety glasses.
Steps:
- Wear PPE
- Gloves, face shield, and safety glasses must be worn at all times.
- Prepare & Lay Out
- Sand all installation locations.
- Evenly space scrapers above rows of lugs:
- 175″ track: 2 scrapers
- 200″ track: 3 scrapers
- Set Up
- Place clamps at each location before beginning.
- Apply Primer
- Spray primer on the first prepared area.
- Apply Adhesive
- Brush adhesive onto the scraper.
- Beware adhesive will cause chemical reactions.
- Work quickly, adhesive sets fast.
- Install
- Press scraper firmly into place and clamp until cured.
- Seal
- Apply additional adhesive along the top and sides.
If you plan to rotate your tracks, additional ice scrapers must be installed on the opposite side of the track to maintain proper operation and track orientation.
